Course Description

This CLE will briefly cover the fundamentals of trademark law with a number of important recent developments. It will also cover the issues that arise online, with URLs and it will cover international registration through the USPTO as well as international registration throughout the European Union and Asia. This course is essential for all business lawyers. Participants will be provided with an overview of trademark law both domestic and international. It will also provide participants with some very important recent developments and participants will have an opportunity to ask questions as well.

    Leonard specializes in complex business and intellectual property including art law. He is licensed to practice law in Oregon; New York; several United States District Courts; United States Court of Appeals, Second, Ninth, and Federal Circuits; the United States Customs Court; United States Court of International Trade; United States Supreme Court; United States Tax Court; and United States Patent Court. He is also a member of the National Native American Bar Association. As a practicing attorney, Leonard DuBoff is experienced in transactional work, such as contract drafting, incorporating, and the registration of copyrights, trademarks, and other intellectual property. His litigation experience primarily focuses on complex business cases and intellectual property cases.

    Amanda Bryan graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree in Music and received her Master’s Degree in Writing with an emphasis in Book Publishing from Portland State University. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Lewis and Clark Law School with a certificate in Intellectual Property law. Amanda was the National Jurist Law Student of the year for Oregon and was the recipient of numerous academic scholarships and awards. She was the ghost writer for a book on entertainment law while in law school and edited a case book on copyright law. She is a practicing lawyer representing clients from all over the world specializing in intellectual property including copyright, trademark and related subjects. Amanda ran a digital publishing services company for many years and, in addition to practicing law, now teaches intellectual property and copyright law in the Book Publishing Master's Program at Portland State University.
