Attorney Gerissa Conforti handles nearly every type of dispute between businesses or between businesses and individuals. Her significant commercial litigation experience includes practicing in areas such as premises liability, fraud, civil rights violations, partnership joint venture disputes, breach of fiduciary duties, breach of contract, commercial landlord/tenant disputes and more. With a particular focus on major national retailers as well as local retail entities, Ms. Conforti’s experience includes representing the best interests of both landlords and tenants, and successfully negotiating leases and other agreements on both sides of a deal.
Her broad business experience also allows her to serve as General Counsel for clients, acting in an advisory role by assessing the company’s business needs and advising accordingly. While serving in this role, Ms. Conforti is also able to assist clients with a variety of other law-related business needs, such as negotiating leases and drafting venture capital agreements, helping to mitigate the company’s exposure to potential litigation.
In addition, Ms. Conforti’s experience includes work on state and federal civil RICO cases where she has defended entities, general counsel and company officers and represented their various interests. Her practice is rather unique in that she has also handled criminal RICO matters. Ms. Conforti has substantial experience working on complex white-collar matters, and she has represented clients in actions before the OCC and the SEC. In a particularly significant matter, Ms. Conforti represented the interests of in-house attorneys who provide counsel to international banks.
While her work is primarily focused on commercial litigation, Ms. Conforti has also practiced in family law, with a focus on high-asset, complex matters concerning property division, child and spousal support, breaches of fiduciary duty and attorney’s fees. Her experience includes handling a rather high-profile international kidnapping case, which she wrote about in detail for Family Lawyer Magazine.
Ms. Conforti’s service to the legal community includes serving on the Board of Directors for the California Western School of Law Alumni Association, serving on the Continuing Education Committee for Lawyers Club of San Diego, and serving in several leadership positions for Pan Asian Lawyers of San Diego.
