This is a 2 Part course.
Part 1 - Cannabis laws across the nation are rapidly evolving. While cannabis remains a controlled substance under federal law, California is part of a growing number of states that have legalized cannabis for both medical and recreational purposes, leading to explosive growth of cannabis-related businesses. Using California as its state-level focus, this CLE course will provide participants with a solid understanding of the current framework of laws and regulations (at the federal, state and local levels), and the many challenges facing new licensees in the regulated framework.
Part 2 - It’s no secret that the hemp and CBD industry is growing rapidly. With the recent proliferation of hemp and CBD products in mainstream U.S. markets, more and more opportunistic entrepreneurs are looking to break into the hemp or CBD markets. However, underpinning the industry is a complex web of rapidly evolving laws and regulations at the federal and state level, many of which are in conflict. Moreover, much of the legal framework that will eventually control the industry has not yet been fully implemented and is rolling out in “real time” month by month as the industry grows. In this CLE course, participants will be provided with a solid understanding of the legal foundations that impact the industry, as well as practical insights to representing clients in these new markets.
