Richard Rybicki advises employers on a broad range of labor and employment law issues. He has represented employers, employer associations, and employee benefit plans in courts and administrative proceedings throughout the United States.
Mr. Rybicki’s litigation experience includes harassment, discrimination, retaliation, leave of absence, workplace safety, trade-secret, unfair competition, whistleblower, employee benefit, and individual and class-action wage claims. He has served clients from various industries such as manufacturing, technology, culinary, hospitality, agriculture, winery, construction, transportation, timber, health care, professional services, sales, public entity, and non-profit enterprises.
Mr. Rybicki also practices under state and federal labor relations laws, representing management in collective bargaining, arbitration, and matters before the National Labor Relations Board, the California Agricultural Labor Relations Board, and the California Public Employment Relations Board.
Mr. Rybicki speaks and writes frequently on leaves of absence, wage laws, workplace discrimination, union/management relations, and other employment issues. He is a longtime editor for The Developing Labor Law, a leading national labor-management publication, and has chaired both the Napa and Sonoma Bar Association Labor and Employment Law sections. He has been active in the community as well, holding leadership positions with the Napa Chamber of Commerce and serving as adjunct faculty at Napa Valley College and the Culinary Institute of America – Greystone. He also acts as a mediator for several local courts’ alternative dispute resolution panels.
Mr. Rybicki received a B.A. in Philosophy from U.C.L.A., a Doctor of Law from Cornell University, and an advanced qualification (studying Language and Law) from the University of Cambridge. He is admitted to practice in California and before several federal District Courts, Courts of Appeal, and the United States Supreme Court.
When not practicing law, Mr. Rybicki enjoys cooking, travel, reading, and spending time with his three children.
