About Roger E. Goodman

Practice and Experience

Roger Goodman is a nationally-recognized drug policy reformer and has worked for more than a decade on cannabis policy issues. His practice focuses on business development and government relations for clients in the new highly-regulated cannabis industry. Roger is admitted to the bar in Washington State and Rhode Island, the First and Ninth Federal Circuits, and the United States Supreme Court. He received an A.B. as a Senior Fellow from Dartmouth College; his J.D. from the George Washington University; and an M.P.A. from Harvard University. A criminal justice expert, Roger is also a state legislator, currently serving his fifth term in the Washington State House from the 45th District, which includes the Seattle suburbs of Kirkland and Redmond. Roger is Chair of the House Public Safety Committee, with oversight of the criminal justice system. He is also a senior member of the House Judiciary Committee. Roger previously served as Director of Washington’s Sentencing Guidelines Commission, and also served in the 1980s and 1990s as Legislative Director, Counsel and Chief of Staff for two senior Democratic Members of the U.S. Congress.
