About Kamran Salour

Kamran Salour represents and defends clients in business disputes often involving a breach of contract, fraud, tortious interference, and unfair competition claims. Mr. Salour works closely with his clients to understand their objectives and tailors his litigation strategy around those objectives. His experience, therefore, encompasses the litigation spectrum: from dispute resolution before the onset of litigation through securing judgments for his clients after trial.

Mr. Salour’s experience extends to cybersecurity, privacy, and data protection matters. He is a certified information privacy professional for the U.S. Sector (CIPP/US). He advises companies on cybersecurity compliance and defends them against claims of violating various privacy statutes, such as the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) and the Video Privacy Protection Act (VPPA). Mr. Salour is also a recognized expert in and a frequent commentator on biometric privacy law. He counsels clients on compliance with US and international regulations relating to cybersecurity and data privacy, including compliance with the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Mr. Salour has a proven track record of obtaining favorable results for his clients, including:

  • Defeating at trial, a $10 million breach of contract claim against a leading video game developer and publisher;
  • Obtaining injunctive relief on behalf of the Gulf Cooperation Council preventing the Internet Corporation of Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) from issuing the PERSIAN GULF generic top-level domain name;
  • Dismissing, at the pleading stage, unfair competition claims against an energy drink manufacturer;
  • Obtaining a very favorable settlement on behalf of a printing company and its officers in a breach of contract and fraud action stemming from a contemplated, but never consummated merger with a competing printing company; and
  • Devising strategy for wind farm developer to intervene as plaintiff in ongoing suit between landowner and competing wind farm developer. After successfully intervening, case immediately settled on terms very favorable to the client.

Mr. Salour is admitted to practice in California and in the United States District Courts of California. He earned his B.S. in microbiology and molecular genetics from the University of California at Los Angeles in 2001. He earned his J.D. with honors from Emory University School of Law in 2006, where he received the Gunster, Yoakley & Stewart Best Oralist Award and the ABA/BNA Award for Excellence in the Study of Intellectual Property. Mr. Salour was a member of the National Moot Court Team and a participant in the TIGER program, a law/business cross-disciplinary technology commercialization program.
