A strong corporate governance structure and an engaged board are critical components to the success of an organization. This course will cover the basics of corporate governance for health care businesses, hospitals, and practices. An overview of board structure, qualifications, diversity and requirements will be discussed. Ethical implications of board members, committee creation for purposes of decision making, among other requirements will also be covered.

Amanda Bhikhari has previous experience as in-house legal counsel to one of Florida’s largest academic medical centers as well as in-house counsel to the only free-standing children’s hospital in South Florida. Amanda is a licensed attorney with a Master’s Degree in Health Care Administration, with nearly 20 years of concentrated experience assisting healthcare professionals and businesses. In her in-house roles over the past 8 years, Amanda was involved in all legal matters involving the system’s hospitals and affiliate companies, where she presented legal recommendations to senior leadership for continued enhancement of the organization’s goals and objectives and supported internal business partners in developing an understanding of the law, as it related to their operational areas of the organization. Amanda also has a strong background in corporate governance and working with the Boards of Directors.
