The novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic in early March has caused governments across the globe to close businesses and impose various travel bans/restrictions in order to flatten the curve and slow the spread. The pandemic has also given rise to complications and challenges for nonimmigrant and immigrant workers. This course will cover the potential effects of furloughs, layoffs, and remote work on several nonimmigrant categories. An overview of the Executive Order on the temporary suspension of immigration will also be discussed as well as what a post-COVID world will look like as it pertains to U.S. immigration.
