This course is intended as an introduction to Animal Law. How animals are regarded under the law, the owner’s liability for their actions, an injured person’s right to recovery, and how much the recovery may be, will be covered. Veterinary malpractice will be discussed, as will exotic pets, shelters, Animal Control, Law Enforcement, and Agricultural enterprises. Custody issues, service and assistance animals, criminal offenses, estate planning, transportation, and buying and selling will be addressed.



  • Thomas Nicholl
    Thomas Nicholl is both an attorney and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. He graduated from Veterinary School in 1975 and has practiced for over 20 years. He also holds a law degree and practices in the Central Florida area. He is a former State of Florida Prosecutor with extensive trial experience, and is licensed with the Florida Bar Association as well as being a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association.
