This course will examine those specially designated nationals (“SDNs”) designated by the Office of Foreign Assets Control (“OFAC”). Specifically this course will examine the effects of an SDN designation both on the designated entity/individual as well as all assets owned/controlled by the SDN located within the U.S. Additionally, we will examine compliance steps which may be undertaken by entities which may do business or otherwise come into contact with SDNs or their blocked assets. Finally, we will examine the costs and pitfalls which can face SDNs and entities doing business with SDNs and their property without first going through proper OFAC channels.
